Freshman Graduate Student and Datacraft
My undergraduate years are over. Hello graduate studies. I am officially old now, despite being still a freshman student. I’m now onto the next leg of my academic life, taking up Master of Science in Computer Science degree, under the Datacraft research program, in De La Salle University-Manila. I am currently enrolled in the following courses: Automata Theory and Computation, Ethical Hacking, and Digital Image Processing.
Automata Theory? Oh Lord, help me! I’m not a fan of automata and natural language processing. Ethical Hacking and Digital Image Processing seem cool. We will have lots of hands-on work in those two subjects and I am looking forward to the term. Although, one factor that makes me nervous in DIP is the fact that our final (the one and only in the course) exam is 40% of our final grade. That’s pretty heavy, since normally, final exams only take 30% of the final grade. Oh well, we will just see what happens.
On Datacraft, I am pretty happy with my decision on joining the program. However, I am somehow nervous of what will happen in the next few days/weeks, since our groupings were not yet announced. We will be briefed with the other details this Saturday, at the kick-off event that will be held at The New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati. I am looking forward to the free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Hehe. Hopefully there will be free dinner too.
As mentioned earlier, I am a bit apprehensive about what will happen to the groupings. We will be grouped by threes. So far, there has been politicking within the people involved as to who he or she wants in the group. This has made the situation worse. I would not want to elaborate on this, since this might become a bigger issue if I mention names. Let’s just keep it at that.
Anyway, I’ll be posting in my next entry my experiences in Puerto Galera with my blockmates.

Thanks for visiting
On NLP forums however, sorry I don’t know of any. If I come across something NLP related, I’ll let you know.
