Google Chinese Input Method Editor (IME)
Cool. While searching for a way to input Chinese characters with ease, I chanced upon a blog that led me to Google tools. (Visit the original post here.
To download the IME from Google tools, visit this site: http://tools.google.com/pinyin/.
It’s been a long time since I’ve tried searching for Chinese (traditional) IMEs. I’ve tried using the built in Microsoft IME, but it’s not very user friendly, at least for me. It was not able to input Chinese characters in Yahoo Messenger. I came across with an online tool that enables me to copy and paste characters, but it’s not as efficient as just clicking something and type away. So I am downloading this Google IME with the hope that I’ll find a very good substitute for the tools I’ve used thus far.
It seems that it’s actually an addition to the built-in Windows IME. After selecting the Chinese (CH) language from the language bar, another toolbar appears. This time, the toolbar is the Google IME. You can now type in Pinyin, and the interface is way better. It also has a lot of settings available, such as typing in Traditional or Simplified Chinese. One drawback however, is that you need to be able to read Chinese text, as the instructions, the options, and descriptions are all written in Chinese.
This is an example of something written using the Google IME: ?????????D
