One Month in Six Hours, Typhoon Ondoy – How to Help
Flooding: News from AlJazeera (Sept 26)
It was that bad. Typhoon Ketsana (Ondoy), though low in wind intensity, brought about 1 month worth of rains in 6 hours non-stop. The rains continued on for more than 12 hours. It certainly broke history. I’m sure many have shared their experiences online, and doing a search on it will lead you to these.
This site may help you as well: Disaster Management System: http://sahana.kahelos.org/
I shall dedicate this post for links on how we can all help the flood victims. These are important info, so I hope you can help me in spreading these to as many people as you can.
Go to this first –> Rescue InfoHub Central
- List of emergency numbers you can call
- List of addresses still needing help, with interactive map
- List of calls for rescue
- List of missing and found people

Now is the time when we feel the effects of the extravagant foreign trips of our beloved president. Php800 Million worth of emergency fund put to waste. Oh well. Let’s just do what we can to help out, even in our own little ways.
Also, for those who are not able to go out, and for people outside the country, there are still ways to help out.
KINDLY RE-POST: There are at least 1.6 million Filipino Facebook users. Donating just P100 each to Red Cross will easily give them P160 MILLION to help in their rescue and relief operations!
The RED CROSS is accepting donations via pasaload/shareaload. For SMART subscribers, please text RED 25 to 4483. For GLOBE, text RED 25 to 2899. (both will trigger a “pasaload” in the amount of P25, change 25 to the amount – 25, 50, 100.)
- Philippine Red Cross Bank accounts
- GMANews.TV Facebook Ondoy page, for those who needs help and can provide help
- GMA Ondoy Hotline: 981-1950 to 59
- ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya Hotline: 413-2667 / 416-0387
- ABS-CBN Foundation US Office: Toll-Free 1-800-527-2820
I shall update these if there are more information. And if you have more links or ways to help, simply comment below.
