Readability
Before, web sites were simple, black and white pages with a few specks of pictures and colors here and there. That was then. Now, we have all sorts of media floating around each page, which makes our virtual lives a lot more colorful and interesting. However, with all these improvements in design, some of the sites that we visit have cluttered layouts, have terribly small fonts, or even have colors that fade into the background. These things strain not only our eyes, but our patience as well.
Arc90 Labs came up with Readability: a project on removing clutter on pages in order to make reading on the web more stress-free and enjoyable. There are only two steps:
- Select settings: Choose from the different styles, sizes and margins.
- Add bookmarklet: After choosing, drag the link to your bookmarks toolbar.
Presto! It’s ready to use. I tried using it with different sites, and found out that it works well with Facebook notes. Upon usage on a site, the page can easily be reloaded, printed or even send as email using the buttons on the upper left of the screen. There are some pages that cannot be loaded well as of now, but hey, it’s still in its development stages. Maybe we’ll see more improvements in the near future.
