Office 2007 Converters and Backwards Compatibility
Office 2007 has been here for a while now. But if there are still people who are finding it impossible to open or convert files saved using the older version of MS Office. Here are ways on how to solve your problem.
Through the Internet
- When simply opening and viewing documents saved in the old .doc format, you can simply use online document editors such as Google Docs and Zoho.
- When you need to convert files from an old format to a newer one, or vice versa, you can use the many free online converters available. Check my previous post. The only downside I could think of using this option, is that you cannot be too sure about the security of the information in your documents.
Desktop Solution
- You can simply download the 27.5MB Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack, which allows you to open old formats, as well as save files to the newer XML formats (.docx, .xlsx, etc.) even if you do not have Office 2007 installed in your system.
Are there other ways that you know of? Do share.

I actually use the same software but not most of the time. I sometimes use .doc to .pdf conversion tools and vice versa.
