Recently, I’ve started tweaking around another blogging platform – Tumblr. It’s really simple to use. What’s great about it is how it makes life simple for bloggers, especially for personal and casual bloggers.

Trying to upload a set of photos for my new footprint on the web (which I will detail how I set up in another post), I found it dumbfounding why it always resulted to an error. I’ve asked around for probably reasons but none that gave me a solution. Some people shared that sometimes it’s the hosting provider for Tumblr: Amazon. But for the problem I’m experiencing, I’m pretty sure it’s of a different nature, because my friends can upload without problems.

It took me a few days of testing and debugging, as I would while developing a program. The solution to my problem is that the photos should be in RGB color mode.

It could be a pain to detect, given only the JPEG image, but if you’re the one who has the last touch (editing) on an image, it could be fairly simple. When editing in Photoshop,  I prefer to use the CMYK color scale instead of RGB. So how do you change it back to RGB? Just open the image, go to Image  > Mode > RGB Color, and save it as JPEG once again. However, it’s best to note that opening a JPEG and saving it as JPEG again results to a loss in image quality.

If you don’t want to use a photo-editing software and do it yourself, there are other converters available on the net. Just do a quick Google search on CMYK to RGB converters.
